I have a few plus-size clothing questions:
1. My wife is 5’2” and currently weighs about 230 (an educated guess). Has she reached plus-size clothing territory?
2. How is Torrid? Is it worth the hype?
3. Are there any other plus-size brands that are better?
4. What’s the best way to recommend plus-size clothing? My wife has been letting herself go recently but I think she’s still in a bit of denial about how big she’s getting. She doesn’t seem to want to consider 2XL even though a lot of her XL clothes are getting really tight on her. Any recommendations on how to gently bring up the topic of buying clothes specifically for BBWs?

@NikkiMaialina Thanks so much for the tips and the link. I definitely don’t want her to take it the wrong way. I was thinking maybe I could get her some plus size clothing as a surprise gift, see if she likes the look, and then see how she looks in it (probably great). Then I would have told her it actually comes from such and such Plus Size store. But there’s always the real possibility that this could upset, so I think being upfront might be better (like you said).
Based on the blog post and your own situation, I definitely think she could use plus size clothes. XL is not big on her— she’s actually outgrowing the size and can barely fit in it. Recently, a lot of her weight has gone to her belly, so based on waist size I’m thinking she needs at least 2X but would probably be more comfortable in 3X.
And then of course I’ve had to think about how long those clothes will last. The XLs she has she got in the winter, so they lasted about 6 months. But she’s put on at least 20 pounds this summer…
Thats a “good problem”, though

@NikkiMaialina What sizes were you wearing when you were 230? My wife seems to gain weight in similar places to you so I think whatever fit you would fit her well now.
I kinda want to get some clothes as a gift but am really afraid I’ll mess up the plus sizes
