My 2018 resolution is to create, teach and share more art. My passion is creating acrylic figure paintings (mostly very large bodied female figures, nude) with the goal of helping others view and identify body types that don't fit the norm as something to be equally celebrated and admired. At this point, I have a reliable day job which I have no plans to leave--this is more so me pursuing a side gig and some dreams I've had for awhile. But I have about a dozen paintings I'm really proud of which I'd like to share--either in a gallery, shared exhibit, or other venue? My concern is, how do I pitch this (either as a group/collaborative thing or solo exhibit? I'm realistic enough to know this kind of thing isn't everyone's cup of tea...) - AND - where or what does the venue for this sort of thing look like (I've considered communicating to nonprofits that work with body image/body positivity subjects, private galleries, shops that display local artwork, etc.) but not sure what might be my best bet? I'm in a large city in the Midwest U.S., if that helps? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello all! I was on Curvage awhile ago (maybe 6 or so years back?) and decided to come back. While personally I am not making efforts to gain/modify my weight, through what has been a recent tough personal situation, I'm trying to embrace me (ALL of me) and be the empowered, confident woman I know I am. Super thick and all. General info on me...I'm in the Midwest (Cleveland, Ohio area.) I work a very conservative, analytical day job (hence why my face isn't in my picture) but am passionate about painting and visual arts. Future side hustle, maybe? 30 years old, no kids but I have a dog I absolutely adore. Love exploring hidden hole-in-the-wall gems in different cities, random road trips and connecting with new people. I firmly believe that I learn just as much from others as they learn from me...but maybe that's the educator and/or optimist in me ;-) Interested in chatting with others. Send me a message!

Hi all! I'm very new here, but have a question and would love your thoughts... After a year or two of seriously contemplating getting my first tattoo, I've decided to go for it. I am not seeking opinions on the idea/placement. I am planning on getting a sternum tattoo ("underboob tattoo") and after researching reviews and info on shops, am ready to reach out to potential artists of choice. I'm big (size 18/20 top, 22 bottom) and confident in who I am. That is, the idea of sitting for a tattoo with a trusted artist (male or female) in a private area while minimally covered on top doesn't bother me. What I'm wondering is this: 1.) How do I approach tattoo artists/shops to make sure they know their client isn't the typical size 4 sternum tattoo model on image searches? I mean, there will be at least a little side roll out, to be real. More, honestly. 2.) Do I need to present my having a fat body to be tattooed as something they can take or leave? Like, should I phrase communication in such a way where an artist can bow out? Thank you!

Agreed. But I would also add that for some (me, personally) I appreciate and adore a variety of body types in men. -

I have been a bigger lady my whole life, living in a southern suburb of Cleveland. How about that! Although I'm not trying to gain, I'm confident with who I am (body/mind/soul/self.) Always up for meeting new friends/chatting..."whatever" with time, you never know. So hi, Northeast Ohioans!
