Curvage Outage

Basically, what happened?

A bit curious as there doesn't seem to be any info (which seems a bit unusual).

Hi,

We would normally always communicate a planned outage for maintenance etc. Unfortunately this was not planned and nothing major or eventful happened in this case. The outage should have never lasted so long but the perfect storm of conditions occurred with a rare event just so happening to occur during the holiday. From time to time (about once a year) A SQL server will need a simple reboot. It's a 5 second fix and can usually happen without anyone being the wiser. In this case as luck would have it the event happened during a holiday when all admin staff were not present. We do have a system in place to ping staff if the website is down. However this system failed because the website was still returning a ping even though it wasn't working. This is because only the database was down not the web server. (this is why it was still serving up a web page with an error about the SQL DB). We have another system in place to notify us of database stalls but it failed due to an agreement change starting Jan 1, (go figure)

In short: it was just a big goof and we are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this caused. We pride ourselves in our incredible track record of uptime. We are currently evaluating in more detail how our process broke down so that we can improve our systems. A minor thing like this should never lead to extended down time. We are committed to never allowing it to happen again.

Thank you :)

I have noticed that since the outage that I can no longer insert links into text. When I click on Save I get redirected to the home page.

Also, the tag generator has changed. It doesn't seem to work properly. I like the previous one better.

We didn’t change anything

So apparently these are bugs in my profile. Is there any way this can be fixed?

Can you post a screen shot of the error as we cannot reproduce

Thank you

The tag system works a bit differently because of the switch away from Elastic search. Some functionality is no longer available. We made the change for security purposes. We will return to Elastic search once issues are addressed.
