If anyone can help me with suggestions for a free video editor for windows that doesn’t have any limitations beyond trying to edit and export a video I would be very grateful! I’m going round the bend trying to find one and have just wasted time editing only for one program to tell me it wants to put a massive watermark on it 😤 I have tried one or two where you need an activation key and have googled ‘free’ keys but none of them worked so I’m back at square one.

what do you use? are you sane? let me know!

Now there are some good ones to use.

For Simple Edits I recommend openshot. https://www.openshot.org. it works really well, lets you add your own watermark and does the simple cuts and things.

Now Another is powerful but free is Davinci Resolve But can need info from you (recent versions do) https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/#

Also one that even Built into windows 10 is the Video editor app in the Photos app on Windows 10. Go to Start > Type in video Editor. That exports really well too

For those that want something Free as well, Videolan aka VLC did do a video editor many years back http://download.videolan.org/testing/vlmc/

Thanks!

I tried Openshot but for some reason it was playing back my video really laggy? It’s not the files fault cause it was playing normally otherwise/elsewhere. I’ll try the other ones you suggested, thanks!

Thats okay,

Now was it laggy in the editor or lagging in the exported clip, since if its laggy in the editor it could be a few things to tweak, like this video will guide you on

Hey, if you're still looking for good, free video editing software, I can highly recommend Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve. It's professional editing software, and it shines especially in the color grading part; but over all it offers a LOT of features considering it's free.

I'm using it myself and there are lots of tutorials available for it on youtube. Here an example:

and you can download it here:

Pay attention to download "DaVinci Resolve 17", not "DaVinci Resolve Studio 17" (Pro version which costs $295, has a few more features, but the free version will be enough for you for now)
