Mason Brown
It's just spam, no need for it, most of them are a way of mocking someone's effort to contribute to the site, let's get rid of them. carneasada and Verge 1
Synthesis
GIF's are a popular form of expression on the site, they add a lot of metaphorical flavour to the communications on the community so they don't seem so bland or robotic if members struggle to think of something fun to read sometimes, writer's block certainly is a cruelty at the best of times when we're wanting to express our bright and funky personalities, so that's where GIF's come in to support that occasional limitation. I don't think I've ever come across a single GIF though that has been used in a way to disparage or mock somebodies contributions to the community, I don't agree that it's at all a viable reason to get rid of them either. If you've come across them being used in such a way, what's to stop you from just reporting the posts instead? 'Cruelty' doesn't come into it, we could live without GIFs, to say the least, so that's pathetic. 'Flavour', 'funky personalities', while in my opinion, is stupidity, isn't something I have a problem with, but most of the GIFs I've seen have been a way of mocking people who have tried to contribute, for example, these ridiculous microscope GIFs, that's ungrateful to say the least, it's unnecessary, and a lot of people post snarky GIFs, GIGs telling users to 'shut, the fuck, up', if you disagree that all GIFs are pointless spam, I understand that, but these examples I'm referring to, obviously should not be allowed. On second thoughts, you might be right, from now on, I'll report any posts with GIFs I think are out of order, and if a moderator doesn't agree, that's that, I did my bit, friendly GIFs are not important, but I suppose they don't do any harm either, point taken. I don't know if I can change the title of the thread, but 'moderating GIFs', might be a better way to phrase my point. Moderators gta Posted May 15, 2021 Moderators Share Posted May 15, 2021 A GIF is just another means of communication. Just like written text, photos, videos, or any other means of expressing one's self on Curvage, the content of any forum post must adhere to our website rules: https://curvage.org/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/936-rules-and-dnp-do-not-post-list/ If you feel a GIF violates one of the site rules, please submit a moderator report and the moderation team will review it. Thank you for the advice. I'm happy to accept I'm outnumbered on GIFs, if others like using them in general, I respect that, but I've definitely noticed disrespectful and unnecessary comments are more prevalent amongst GIFs than any other means of communication, my objective is to be helpful whenever I make a suggestion, I'll do as you advised, and with that, I'll leave this as it is. gta
