Not getting email notifications anymore

Hey there.

I'm not getting email notifications to the threads that i'm subbed to anymore.

is there something that i need to do or that i'm not doing?

Hi lordaltros

It’s resource management. Curvage can send out 1 million emails per month. We were nearing the limit so our team made the decision to turn off non critical emails to save bandwidth for critical stuff like registration or payment notifications. 

Curvage has been growing faster than we have ever imagined. We will continue to scale our platform as needed. In this case it was just a temp solution to keep service flowing. 

Dont worry, we will turn back on the emails. I’ve notified the dev team to flip them back on. 

Keep an eye on your settings as well just to make sure they are correctly set.

Same issue here.  Still not receiving any notifications, but understand the issues.  It does make it hard to follow your favourite topics though.  Maybe you should just provide daily or weekly or monthly summaries, instead of a notification per post.

You can change your preferences yourself: Click on your avatar pic in the top right corner, then

  1. account settings
  2. notification settings
  3. Method to use for content I follow automatically.

You can choose to receive an email

  • per post
  • per day
  • per week
  • or receive no notification.

But remember that these changes will take effect not until the mails have been turned on again.

People need to use the activity streams more often! ;)

By customizing these streams, you can follow you favourite content with ease.

Hi we have switched to AMAZON Mail Server.

I am sure this may have something to do with it but email should be sending.

Still trying to figure out why it might not be working for you

Just quoting my own reply here.  I logged a ticket with support yesteday as this issue also returned for me last week, but was previously subscribed to this thread from last years problem and got a email update on this thread today thinking it was the ticket I raised.

Anyway long story short emails are now again working for me, but apologies if I confused anyone.

i've tried re-following all the threads that i was already following but that didn't seem to do anything.

Hi, You had it turned off in your account settings. You can change this at any time under account settings>notification settings. In this case I changed it for you to turn it on. Here is how it was before I changed it

i don't know how that happened.

i've combed every single inch over my settings and everything that had any hint of notifications, i made sure was checked.

well i checked back on it today because i'm still not getting email notifications

and i found that the setting to send me emails for threads that i follow is disabled and i don't have the ability to turn it back on.

apparently you guys shut it off for some reason.

Hi

 so to be clear you want an email every time someone you follow makes a post?

 That setting gets us into trouble because most consider that excessive and they don’t know why they are getting so many emails

 isn’t it better to limit the emails to followed content? Like a specific topic has an update?

that's how it was before.

i would get an email every time something was posted in a thread that i follow. that's the whole reason why i follow them.

i'd rather not only follow topics because i'm not interested in the majority of the posts.

there are one or two topics that i follow, though, and i still get notifications for those.

See, that’s different than getting an email every time a person you follow posts anything at all, anywhere on the site. 
 

Some folks are following 1000s of people. 
 

You should already be getting emails for threads you follow.
 

Topics = threads. (Same thing)

ok. i don't know how it works and i'm sorry i misused the terminology.

the fact remains that i'm still not getting email notifications.

you see in that screen shot, i have it enabled but its not working.
