Guest MUSEic
See, what people don't understand is that BMI is a risk stratifier. It simple and easy to calculate. It is in it's purpose a screening tool, and a highly effective one at that. Even people with seemingly unfairly high BMIs are at higher risk for cardiovascular events. But BMI is not a "diagnostic" tool. And yet people seem to want to throw the baby out with the bath water because they don't perfectly fit the image they assume BMI to represent. It is one of many tools that ought be evaluated within the context of the individual and other tests.
Guest billow
BMI is an okay system if you're white. For black people, though, it's far more likely to describe a metabolically healthy person as obese. For Asian people, it's likely to describe a metabolically unhealthy person as normal weight.

I can provide a link later, but off the top of my head, the guideline for doctors is that people of Asian descent over BMI of 27 are considered medically obese. Not sure if there's a reciprocal guideline for African Americans.
Mr.B
I've always been interested in BMI just for the "stats" aspect of feederism and gaining. I love seeing weigh-ins, so it's interesting tracking BMI. Here's more research on BMI differences between ethnicities: https://www.who.int/nutrition/publications/bmi_asia_strategies.pdf
Guest Cavill
Yes, BMI doesn't differentiate between muscle and fat, but unless you go to the gym (and train seriously) stop thinking you're some bodybuilder and deal with it.
